Envisioning TEDxUPLB's Sign of the Times

One month to go and we will open the TEDxUPLB stage with the theme “Sign of the Times.” Before this event happens, we want to know how the community perceives the theme. These past weeks, we have asked them to share their thoughts about this year’s theme and tell us what topics might be interesting to talk about with it. Let’s see their responses!

Even before the pandemic occurred, Sign of the Times was the determined theme for TEDxUPLB 2020 with the aim to revisit milestones throughout time as the new decade unfolds. However, it was postponed indefinitely due to lockdowns brought by the health concern still at hand. This year, TEDxUPLB came back with the same subject matter to deal with but contextualized in our current situation. Now is the perfect time to stop and reflect as a society about our state and where it will lead us. We will situate ourselves in the present while retracing history and keeping the future in mind while still being locally relevant to the Los Baños community.

There are different ways to look at the theme and how it will be discussed this TEDxUPLB 2021. It is fascinating to see the varied answers from our community as they have shared their interests and thoughts on what constitutes “Sign of the Times.”

As we count down to our main event, stay tuned to our upcoming blog posts as they are a little sneak peek at the ideas that will be shared by our event speakers this TEDxUPLB 2021.
